ALUMIL is pleased to announce its participation as a pilot case in the European Research Project SMARTHANDLE which aims to address the modern challenges of the manufacturing sector in the European Union by enhancing productivity, flexibility, and sustainability in the production process.

More specifically, the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation of the University of Patras and ALUMIL are designing a robotic arm for packaging heavy-duty, large-sized, and multi-variant aluminium profiles to be pilot-tested at our factory in Kilkis.

As stated on the project’s official website about metal production use cases, “automation of packing processes using industrial robots will increase productivity as robot agents will effectively and consistently transfer profiles between machines towards their final packaging. Intelligent fixtures and machine learning algorithms will enhance the system’s performance for new product variants.
