Towards Digital Transformation: SMARTHANDLE EU project Industrial pilots

Digital transformation within the industrial sector is no longer a future possibility but a present necessity, becoming a top priority for companies striving for efficiency and sustainability. As industrial environments extend integration activities of collaborative robotics, it becomes essential for humans to maintain a central role in the production process. Therefore, familiarizing the workforce with Industry 4.0 & 5.0 technologies is a foregone stepping-stone, bridging the gap between innovation and implementation.

Investing in upskilling the workforce and designing user-centric workplaces fosters smart manufacturing, by realizing seamless human-technology integration, while promoting a strong safety culture. While theoretical understanding is fundamental, providing engineers and operators with hands-on experience in real-world applications is vital to grasp the full potential of future production line applications. At the Teaching Factory Competence Center (TF-CC), this notion becomes real. Offering training and technical services, TF-CC plays a pivotal role in the digital transformation of both national and European manufacturing industries. Within the context of the SMARTHANDLE EU Project, TF-CC will host the metal industry production pilot line, to integrate technologies such as IoT, Artificial Intelligence, advanced analytics and Augmented Reality.

SMARTHANDLE's achievements will gain significant visibility at both national and international levels, enabling widespread dissemination of the digital transformation outcomes and facilitating the exchange of knowledge between research institutions and the industry.

Field trials are instrumental in raising awareness and building trust in revolutionary technologies, laying the foundation for the growth and evolution of industrial companies. Through SMARTHANDLE Project, industrial pilot cases will act as exemplary showcases, inspiring confidence in embracing digital transformation and propelling the industry forward. By fostering digital transformation and advance industrial pilot lines, companies can unlock new possibilities, increase efficiency, and stay ahead in the competitive landscape to mold the future of manufacturing.

Stay tuned…
